IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN), India invites applications for Post Doctoral Fellow position

                                          

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications from Indian nationals for the Post Doctoral Fellow position in the Department of Materials Engineering, purely on a contract basis.

Position:  Post Doctoral Fellow

Principal Investigator (PI): Prof. Prafull Pandey

Job Description: Under the proposed research work, the postdoctoral fellow will investigate the role of interstitial solute elements on the hydrogen embrittlement behavior of multicomponent alloys containing short- and long-range ordered domains. Responsibilities will include setting up experimental facilities, including the manufacturing and characterization of samples. The candidate will work on advanced materials processing techniques and employ various characterization methods to analyze microstructures and properties. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with team members and assist them in their research efforts.

Essential Qualification: PhD in Materials Engineering (candidates who have submitted their dissertation may also apply)

Preferred Skills: 

• The candidate should have a good understanding and knowledge of the principles of materials science, electrochemistry, and phase diagrams.
• The candidate should have experience with materials processing techniques such as arc melting, casting, heat treatment, and various characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and mechanical testing methods.
• The candidate should be able to manage research projects, including planning, execution, and reporting. They should also be able to collaborate with other team members and assist in establishing a new laboratory at the institute.

Duration: Initial appointment is for 12 months, extendable by an additional 12 months based on performance.

Fellowship amount: INR 72,000/- per month (consolidated with no other allowances)
