Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee invites applications from Indian nationals only for project position(s) for the consultancy/research project(s) in the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy purely on a contract basis.

Position:  Research Associate/Project Associate/Project Fellow (2 Nos.)

Principal Investigator: Prof Himanshu Jain

Title of the Project: Optimization Studies for Hydropower Stations in Cascade for River Jhelum in J&K

Job description: To develop an optimization tool, participate in meetings including travel to different offices and hydropower plants in the country, and preparation of research articles and reports.

Sponsor of the project: Grid Controller of India, Ltd., New Delhi

Tenure:  Six months or up to the project completion date

Essential Qualification: 

(i) Project Fellow:

Ph.D. in Engineering 

OR 

Ph.D. in Mathematics/Operations Research (with 2 years' experience in optimization or operations research after PhD) 

OR 

M. Tech in Engineering with 3 years of experience in optimization or power systems or hydropower engineering. 

OR 

B. Tech in Engineering with 6 years of experience in optimization or power systems or hydropower engineering.  

(ii) Research Associate: M. Tech/PhD in Science (Mathematics/Operations Research) 

(iii) Project Associate: B. Tech/M.Sc. (Mathematics)

Desirable QualificationApplied optimization, including formulation of problems and their solution using software such as Matlab, GAMS, and other such software.

Fellowship:  

Project Fellow - Rs. 40,000/- to Rs. 1,00,000/- + HRA per month 

Research Associate - Rs. 30,000/- to Rs. 75,000/- + HRA per month 

Project Associate - Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 60,000/- + HRA per month

Selection Mode: Walk-in-Interview

  • Application in plain paper with a detailed CV including chronological discipline of degree/certificates obtained.
