IISER Kolkata invites applications for Project Associate-I position

                                    

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, to promote high-quality science education and research in the country. The Institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the Project Associate I position in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences purely on a contract basis.

Position:  Project Associate I

Name(s) of the Project Investigator(s): Dr. Kripabandhu Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Department of Computational and Data Sciences, IISER Kolkata.

Funding Agency: IIT Kharagpur AI4ICPS I Hub Foundation

Name of the Project: NyayKosh: Multilingual Resources for AI-based Legal Analytics

Tenure of Project: Initially for a period of 12 months extendable for a further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and availability of funds

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any field of Computer Science/Engineering or Information Technology or Data Science or Artificial Intelligence

Desirable qualifications: Candidates should have a valid qualification through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions

Desirable additional qualifications: Experience with state-of-the-art Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning techniques, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Generative AI; sound programming skills preferably in Python programming language

Fellowship:  

• Rs. 31,000 (plus 24% HRA) per month: for those who satisfy both criteria of Essential Qualifications and Desirable qualifications
• Rs. 25,000 (plus 24% HRA) per month: for those who satisfy only the criteria of Essential Qualifications

Age Limit: Must not be over 35 years as of 16th August 2024 which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India

General Instruction:

i. The decision of the selection committee will be final. 

ii. The appointment of the candidate will be governed by the terms and conditions of the funding agency particularly applicable to the said project. 

iii. The selected candidate will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer. 

iv. The fellowship may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of the tenure if performance to date is not deemed satisfactory.
